Former Norwich and England Footballer Opens New Community Sports Centre.

On Monday 2nd July staff from the Academy were joined by VIP guests to officially open the brand new City Academy Norwich Community Sports Centre. The guest of honour at the launch event was former Norwich and England footballer Dean Ashton who officially opened the centre.

The sports facilities are part of the brand new £21m Academy building and have been designed specifically with community use in mind. The centre is now open for community groups and sports clubs to use in the evenings, at weekends and during school holidays. The centre includes a 4 badminton court sportshall, a gym, a multi activity studio, junior and adult football pitches and also 4 outdoor floodlit netball/tennis courts.
Community Sports Manager Jon Osborne said;

“We are really excited about the opening of the new Community Sports Centre and the range of sports and activities that we are now able to offer our local community. Our aim is to help people of all ages find a sporting activity that they enjoy and to be more physically active.”

The centre will provide a range of sports and activities including basketball, netball, athletics, badminton, dance, zumba, karate, kung fu and football.
