City Academy Norwich have qualified for the Champions Day (14/03/12) of the Premier League U13 Girls Football Tournament after winning a penalty shoot-out in the group stage today.
The pupils that were in the squad were:
Samantha Arthur (7D7)
Clairemine Beya (7D8)
Emma Holmes (7D8)
Charmaine Storey (7L8)
Sasha Carroll (8D6)
Carina Holmes (8L2)
Shana MacDonald (8V5)
Maddy Tuthill (8D1)
The girls won their first match 4-1 against Great Yarmouth High School and also their second 4-2 against Aylsham High School. They then came up against a very strong KES team from King’s Lynn and lost 4-2 meaning they had to play-off against the team that finished second in the other group which was Hewett.
Hewett scored first before we equalised. They then scored again and we equalised with a minute left. The game then went to extra time and they scored again before we equalised, which meant we then had to have a penalty shoot out. They missed their first kick and then Emma Holmes saved one. One of our’s was then saved, which meant it came down to the last kick between the two goal keepers. Their goal keeper scored, meaning that Emma Holmes had to score for us to go through, which she did!
